Made in Italy. Seriously!

MAAMUU toys are designed in Switzerland and entirely assembled in Italy using parts and components produced in Italy and in Europe.
Ours is not a shallow statement, it's the expression of a choice that goes beyond the search for the maximum profit in our business: we are convinced that people working on MAAMUU products should have a name, a face, a history and of course, a lot of passion..
We'd like to thank all of the people that allow us to create the best toys on the market.

MAAMUU: exclusive toys

MAAMUU toys are not mass products. The artisan constructive care, the choice of exquisite and environmental-friendly materials, the fact that each piece is unique, the extremely careful design... all this makes MAAMUU toys definitely exclusive.

Unique products

There is no such thing as two identical MAAMUU toys! Each frame is the outcome of artisan passion of wood workers. It differs from each other for its pattern, roughness, color nuances. Each felt handbag contains little textile imperfections that make it peculiar.
Every child is different, and every toy by MAAMUU is proudly unique.

Attention to detail

On this matter we are hardliners, we can't settle for a compromise. Starting from the choice of suppliers, material, components, going through production and assembly, all the way to packaging and shipment... we pay attention to every detail to offer your child a superior product. To the sight, to the touch: the difference with other toys is perceivable.

Exquisite and natural materials

Wood, stainless steel, aluminium alloys and natural felt. Hypoallergenic rubber and synthetic leather. Everything is built around the frame, that is produced in Italy with layers of European beechwood deriving from sustainable timber farming (that is from FSC-labelled companies). While overlaying these noble layers of wood, we carefully select the surfaces to get the best aesthetic effect from the natural veining of beech. Then the wood gets curved through a 40 minutes long process, which gives our frame its excellent mechanical properties.
All joints and parts that are subject to wear are made of stainless steel or oxydized aluminium alloys , as well as the spoked wheels running on ball-bearing hubs with quick releases.
All this to stand the most lively wannabe-pilots, as well as the passing of time.

Excellence in design

I want to become a child again! That is what you'll think while standing in front of a toy by MAAMUU. Just don't linger too long on the captivating beauty of our toys, on sinuous lines, on the feeling of smoothness and soundness you get by touching them. Enjoy the fact that everything was thought and designed in the most functional, safe and yet funny way.

MAAMUU: safe toys

The design and the production of a safe toy are extremely demanding, if one takes them on as seriously as we do. MAAMUU avail itself of Tüv Süd consulence about safety issues. They verify that our toys fully abide by the EC norms regulating safety of toys.

Mechanical safety

Norm EN71-1 describes the mechanical features a product must respect in order not to create dangerous situations during play, and describes the test methods to verify these features.
For this reason our products have no burr or cutting edges, they don't sting, they don't offer moving parts that can crush fingers, they brake in a easy and stable way, don't release swallowable pieces and keep their structural properties even after repeated falls or when soaked.

Chemical safety

Norm EN71-3 lists what chemicals are not allowed in toys production and in case a substance is allowed, the norm states the migration limits, that is the amount of that substance that can be released by a material through contact, suction, digestion.
That's why all the materials we use, all water-based paints, all formaldehyde-free glues, all hypoallergenic rubbers and plastics are certified according to EN71-3.

Who is MAAMUU?

Maamuu is a small company from Canton Ticino, Switzerland. It is headed by two fathers:
Alessandro, 42 y.o., experienced mechanical engineer, father of Tommy, 3 y.o.;
Emmanuele, 38 y.o., automotive designer and father of Dara 3 y.o.

Why making such fine toys?

Rejecting a "throw-away" mentality.

Far before becoming fathers ourselves, we realized we were often negatively impressed by the general trend regarding toys, above all regarding the "throwaway" philosophy.
We do not want kids to get used to cheap, fragile, poorly designed things: the idea that you can dispose of an object with light heart because you can easily buy a new one is a distortion of common sense.

Durable, adjustable, fixable... beautiful!

Our background, our family tradition too, lead us to produce durable, adjustable, fixable objects. My grandfather shaved each morning for 50 years with the same straight razor. He had to sharpen the blade hundreds of times, had to make a new handle by himself to replace the broken one. But that was "his" razor, the one that shared his image in the mirror each morning, and not just "a" razor.

Living materials

We are not against plastics, on the contrary, we think they are fundamental to our lives. But we think other more traditional materials are uncomparably more fascinating: metal and wood, they are living materials, they change with time, need care, require the little user (and their parents) to know the toy better. Not to mention safety issues deriving from plastics... That's why we tend to privilege metal, wood, natural fabrics over plastics in our toys.

Hand your toy down to your child!

We want the design of our toys to be stunningly beautiful, to give your children something to remember with pleasure when they are adult. And possibly, to produce such well-made toys that your children will be able to hand them down to their own children.
